Who we are
Young Money Solutions, Inc. (YM$) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019 in Tampa, Florida. Our mission is to increase the financial capability and long-term financial wellness of underserved communities through financial literacy. We believe that a shift in mindset and personal responsibility is the catalyst for positive change. YMS offers several dynamic programs and services for various demographics, delivering impactful financial education results.
Howard Johnson
Howard Johnson is the co-Founder & CEO of Young Money Solutions, Inc., where he spearheads financial education initiatives for underserved communities, leveraging his professional expertise in financial services, asset management, politics, and human resources. An entrepreneur and personal finance expert, he is actively involved in various organizations and advisory boards and holds a professional membership in the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII). Howard’s passion for financial literacy stems from his personal experience accumulating almost $10,000 in credit card debt while at university, destroying his credit and taking years to pay off that debt. This experience served as an inflection point for Howard, to not only become financially literate, but to empower his community to overcome financial vulnerability and financial instability. Howard holds an M.P.A. in Human Resources Management and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of West Florida.
Bryan Ferguson
Bryan Ferguson is the co-Founder and COO of Young Money Solutions Inc. and was born and raised in The Bahamas. Bryan has worked in technology for the past 20 years, with almost a decade dedicated to FinTech. Currently holding the position of Site Reliability Engineer at Kin Insurance Inc., he brings valuable expertise to his role. His skills include credit industry technologies, credit scorecard modeling, loan decisioning technology, and various tools and technologies, including pro audiovisual hardware and software. Bryan is also a licensed life and health insurance agent in Florida, with a deep commitment to financial literacy. His passion for empowering others through education led to the creation of Young Money Solutions, Inc. Previously, Bryan served as an Advisory board member for Circuit 13 Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, a Tampa SCORE Mentor, and an Advisory Panel member for the USF Digital Marketing Certificate Program. Actively involved in community initiatives, he has also held leadership roles in Employee Resource Groups and educational initiatives. Bryan holds a degree and certificate in audio recording technology and various IT-related certificates.
Genesia Doreus
Genesia Doreus is the co-Founder and Vice President of Administration of Young Money Solutions, Inc. and was born and raised in Miami Dade County. She has worked professionally in the juvenile justice field over the past 10 years providing wrap-around services and financial literacy to the youth in our community. She created a financial literacy curriculum that is credit bearing with measurable outcomes and is currently in use in several programs for at-risk juveniles. As a young mother and subject matter expert on personal finance, Genesia has applied the same methods to her own life as she is doing for the service population of Young Money Solutions, Inc. Genesia obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health from Troy University and a BA degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida. She is also the Youth Director at her church. Genesia is a passionate advocate for youth to become financial literate and to achieve financial independence.
Jay Smith
Jay Smith is the co-Founder and Vice President of Community Outreach of Young Money Solutions, Inc. he’s a Connecticut native who brings a wealth of experience from his many years in the mortgage industry, management, and his extensive work at one of the largest credit bureaus in the nation. Jay is deeply committed to fostering financial education for underserved communities. With his deep knowledge in the credit space, Jay is dedicated to empowering individuals through financial literacy, making a significant impact on those who need it most.
